One of my favorite locations for senior portrait sessions in the Phoenix and Scottsdale area is DC Ranch Market Street in North Scottsdale.
The greatest lure of this magnificent spot is the huge variety of backdrops. I was reminded of this again during my session with Boulder Creek senior Mariah. She chose three great outfits, including a bold red dress, and they were perfect for all the mini-venues at this market place.
Parts of DC Ranch have a very clean architectural look -- concrete walls with textural lines, industrial looking doors and walls, stairs, and plenty of storefronts with tall windows.
But just a few steps away there are more rustic elements -- bluish-grey barn doors, stone cut-out windows, and lots of rich, copper-colored metal.
And if you like a natural look, there's that, too. A wooded area with small footbridge, a beautiful cactus-filled area that blooms in the spring, and even a tunnel.
There are also other nooks and crannies that I discover each time I photograph there. Which are your favorites?
