If you're in the Phoenix area and haven't had your family photos taken at Scorpion Gulch, let me tell you something. You're missing out!
Built in 1936, this South Mountain hot spot was originally a home and trading post where jewelry, curios, soda, and candy were sold. Today the roofs of the buildings are gone, but the beautiful stone frameworks remain, providing a beautiful backdrop for any type of photo session.
I tend to choose this as one of the spots for my fall family mini sessions year after year because everyone LOVES it. It's also a great choice for toddlers and small children, because it's fairly contained and doesn't require a lot of walking around.
And this family NAILED the outfits. The blues and golds tie in perfectly with the coloring of the surrounding stone. That mustard yellow just has a special pop that looks SO good in photos. They did a great job of sprinkling the color in several spots: the older daughter's top, mom's necklace and earrings, the subtle pattern in the younger daughter's dress, the younger daughter's shoes, and the accent pattern in the older daughter's shoes. Perfect!
This location is also amazing for senior and dancer photos!
