Back when I started my photography-as-a-little-business-venture two years ago, I never imagined I'd be shooting a wedding. But back in March, it happened. I captured so many fun, beautiful moments as Sunny and Melissa got married at Cave Creek Chapel.
Melissa has been my 12-year-old daughter's dance teacher for going on four years now. We see her many times a week and she's choreographed and coached my daughter for her solo competition dances. The kids love her. She constantly showers them with love and praise and gives them huge bear hugs when she returns from vacations or a student has been away. She orchestrated the dance studio's now infamous birthday dance circle in which the kids gather around in a circle, join hands and sashay around the lucky birthday boy or girl while singing Happy Birthday.
When Melissa and Sunny started dating, he brought her iced teas and lunch on long class or rehearsal days (and he still does this). But he smartly realized he would need to win over not only her but her students. So he started bringing boxes full of treats -- donuts, cupcakes. Mission accomplished.
So back in the fall when Melissa asked me if I shot weddings, I told her I never had. But she didn't care. She asked me to shoot her wedding anyway. So I spent many hours researching, poring over wedding photos, watching YouTube videos, and trying to keep my nerves at bay.
I found an amazing second photographer (Aimee Hernandez) to help me and I'm so glad I stepped out of my comfort zone.
Thank you, Sunny and Melissa, for letting me a part of your wedding and having faith in me as your photographer. It was such a beautiful day.
